What is the lente intro?

During the lente intro you get the opportunity to get to know rowing and the association together with other participants of the lente intro. You will row together with your own team and even start two races with this team. Of course, have your opponents also just started with rowing. Every game also hosts a big party where you can celebrate your victories. Outside of the practices and the races you can eat and get a drink with your mates at the association. When you get out of the shower, you can immediately grab a bite to eat and make the night memorable.

Can I just come visit at any time?

Yes, of course. During the open rowing-practices train at the association without obligation. For more information go to the application form.

Do I have to do a hazing?

No, we do not have a hazing. You can immediately train, eat and party with the rest of the association.

What are the practices like?

The lente intro practices are focused on inexperienced rowers and therefore we will start a level zero. You will be training with the same group in a so called C4+, which is a stable and wide boat with 4 rowers and a coxswain. Every team gets some coaches and learns the basic techniques. To get your technique even better, you will also train on the ergometer. A team mostly consists of 6 to 7 people, so the coxswain position can be rotated and the people that are spare in the boat can do an alternative training. This is to get to know the sport in an even wider variety. Rowers that are scouted by our talent scouts can, if they want, train in a ‘talentenacht’ (talents- eight). With this you get more experience and get the change to start an extra race.

When are the practices?

The lente intro practices will take place on monday, wednesday or thursday evenings.

What happens after the 8 weeks of lente-membership?

This is up to you. If you have enjoyed the lente intro, you can sign up and become a member and stay for free until the Tu/e intro. During the summer rowing is a little bit less structured and you should be proactive and ask people to train together or chill at the association in the sun with a drink and snack. Everyday there is someone at the association and new friends are easily made. Depending on you, you can start race rowing or competition rowing at the end of August.

The lente intro period is completely without obligation, so if you do not like rowing or the association, you can just stop after the lente intro.

Why does Thêta have a lente intro period?

As a well-known student sport association in Eindhoven, we like to offer the students a sportive and healthy challenge and social development that makes Thêta such a success. We see that a lot of first year students have minimal insight on the time they need to spent on their study. With all these obligations and the amount of money that studying costs, it is a big step for a lot of students to try something new during their first year. In the spring, after the third quartile, the insight in the study load has become clearer and you might miss exercising, the challenge and fun that we can offer you as a sports association.
